The 10th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army has organized a military bazaar in Cox's Bazar for the second time on Saturday to meet the daily necessities and raw market demand of the unemployed and helpless people amid the corona crisis.
Vegetables were collected from the marginal farmers of the village and brought to the market, which was provided free of cost to 500 families.
The market activities organized under the supervision of 10 Artillery Brigade were inspected by senior army officers of Ramu Cantonment and responsible officers of the district administration.
According to cantonment sources, from the east, army members from Jhautala, Samiti Para, Burmese Market and Kalatali areas of Cox's Bazar city used to make a list of poor people and provided special tokens.
At the entrance of the stadium, there was an antiseptic booth and hand washing system under the overall management of the army personnel. The poor people are seen to be overwhelmed with help.
They expressed gratitude to the army for such humanitarian assistance before and after Eid. Relevant sources said that similar activities will be conducted in other areas of the district in phases.
Belal and Sujan, the shop employees who came to the market, said, “We are in a lot of trouble as there are no businesses in Cox's Bazar and all kinds of work are closed due to Corona.
We are very happy to get the daily necessities from the army including rice, flour, salt, oil, potatoes, green chilies. Such activities of the army certainly deserve praise”.
Army members are sterilizing emergency supply vehicles and people through multiple disinfection booths at Chakaria, the entrance to Cox's Bazar district, and at the entrances to Rohingya refugee camps.
They have continued to assist the civilian administration by rebuilding damaged houses, roads and dams in the areas affected by the latest super cyclone "Amphan" and providing necessary medical assistance and relief to the people in the disaster affected areas.
