Army personnel recovered arms and ammunitions after conducting a week-long drive from the deep forest at Bhuiyachhari area in Sajek union under Baghaichhari upazila of the district on Saturday, said ISPR press release on Sunday.
Army members from Baghahat zone under Khagrachhari region operated the raids, said the release sent by Rashedul Alam Khan, Assistant Director of the ISPR.
Acting on secret information about the armed terrorists, the forces launched combing operation in the jungle at Bhuiyachhari area in remote Sajek union from early morning on Saturday.
They recovered two AK-47 assault rifles with two magazines, a sub-machine gun (SMG) with a magazine and 21 live bullets from the scene. However, no terrorists were arrested since they managed to flee sensing the appearance of the military personal, said ISPR.
Exchanged of gunshots had been taking place between the several terrorist groups over the past couple of weeks at different areas in remote Sajek union, sources said.
