Arifa Akhter's journey began in the modest dwelling of the Asharyan project. Amidst hardship, her family's sustenance was megre. Yet, a trove of a hundred medals became her cherished possession. Despite having three sisters and a mother, not a single piece of gold adorns them. Instead, their shelves brim with accolades from

both national and international arenas. To Arifa's mother, these tokens of victory hold a value greater than any gold.

Nestled in the village of Rupsadi within Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria, Arifa's home stands proud. She's known for her pivotal role in the women's under-16 squad that triumphed over India.

Aliya Begum, Arifa's mother, reflects, "It's been an arduous journey to this point. Meals were scarce, and hunger often lingered. Yet, my daughter's talent never faltered. Her passion for sports was evident, and I was determined to support her dreams, no matter the struggle."

She further remarks, "Our means are modest. Night after night, I gaze upon the medals my daughter has earned. Wealthier households may lack such a collection. These symbols of her success are our family's pride, and I harbor no regrets for the absence of gold or wealth; these medals are our true treasures."

Jitu Mia, Arifa's father, shares, "Journalists flock here for my daughter, a testament to our fortune. The discussions always circle back to her inception in football."

He adds, "Initially, there was much chatter. Questions arose about my decision to let my daughter pursue football. But now, those voices have quieted. Transporting her to coaching sessions in my auto-rickshaw filled me with joy."

"The community's admiration is palpable. Locals hold me in high regard because of my daughter, and even officials view me with newfound respect. Times have indeed changed, and it's essential to nurture one's passions."

Mir Rafiqul Islam, Arifa's coach, states, "Arifa has been a standout since her early days. Under the guidance of our captain, AB Tajul Islam, she honed her skills at the football club. She's like a daughter to me, excelling from local levels to district and beyond. Her innate talent earned her a spot in SAFF, and she's never looked back."

Abu Naim, a neighbor, expresses, "Arifa's achievements fill us with pride. She's elevating our

nation's esteem. The dedication her family has shown is now bearing fruit. With a bit more support from the authorities, Arifa's potential is boundless."
