Argentina's World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is likely to come to Dhaka in July ahead of his scheduled visit to Kolkata, the visit's organiser informed on Sunday.
Legendary footballers like Pele, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Cafu and Oliver Kahn have visited Kolkata. This time, the 2022 Qatar World Cup winning Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is joining their list.
It was understood Emiliano Martinez will visit Kolkata in the first week of July. Sports promoter Satadru Dutta is bringing him to Kolkata. He met Martinez at Aston Villa’s ground. After that, the Argentinian goalkeeper expressed his interest in visiting Kolkata after hearing various stories about West Bengal and football from him.
He also expressed interest in coming to Bangladesh. On his wish, Martinez, who won the Golden Gloves, is being brought to Bangladesh. The information has been confirmed by Satadru Dutta himself. He wrote the matter on his Facebook handle, “Emi Martinez has a special place in his heart for Bangladesh as they have tremendous Argentina fan following .. So I am planning a one day dhaka trip for Martinez …

He also told media that he will bring Martinez to Bangladesh for one day on July 3. He told ‘Ei Samay’ of India, “On 3rd (July 3), Martinez will visit Dhaka for a day.”
When asked whether Martinez will participate any event in Dhaka? Satadru said, “It will be decided by Bangladesh. It has yet not been decided whether he will visit any club in Bangladesh or not. But that will be known very soon.”
He will go back to Kolkata from Dhaka. He will visit Mohun Bagan Football Club on July 4 afternoon. If things go as planned, he may visit West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former Indian Cricket captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
