The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is offering 500 scholarships for Bangladeshi students for the 2024-25 academic year. Applications are open until May 31. This scholarship covers various Indian universities, excluding courses in Medicine, Paramedical, Fashion, and Law.

Eligible candidates must be between 18 to 30 years old for Bachelor's and Master's programs. The minimum age for Ph.D. applicants is 45. Students will have the opportunity to stay in university hostels. To apply, students need to write a 500-word essay to demonstrate their English proficiency. While TOEFL or IELTS scores can be submitted, they are not mandatory.

Interested students can apply online at www.sjsdhaka.gov.in. Applicants must upload their secondary and higher secondary mark sheets. If the documents are not in English, they must be translated. Untranslated documents will not be accepted. Medical insurance of at least 5 lakh Indian Rupees or 6,800 USD per year is required for ICCR scholarship students.

Every year, about 200 Bangladeshi students benefit from this scholarship. This includes 140 undergraduate, 40 postgraduate, and 20 Ph.D. students. In 2021, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 'Suvarna Jayanti Scholarship,' adding 500 more seats to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence. Additionally, the 'Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship' is available for students interested in these fields.

There is no application fee, and students do not have to pay tuition fees. Monthly stipends are provided: 18,000 rupees for undergraduates, 20,000 rupees for postgraduates, and 22,000 rupees for Ph.D. students. Housing expenses up to 6,500 rupees per month and other benefits, including medical treatment, are also covered.
