An anti-mosquito drive has been launched under the initiative of Ishwardi Municipality of Pabna to prevent mosquito infestation at the end of winter.
Newly appointed Ishwardi Municipal Mayor Ishaq Ali Malitha inaugurated the drive by spraying mosquito repellent in the culvert drains near Chitralekha near Kadamtala on the main station road in the town on Monday morning.
Mayor Ishaq Ali Malitha said the initiative was taken to control Culex and Aedes mosquitoes everywhere including Ishwardi town. This drive will continue to prevent the spread of mosquitoes.
He urged the citizens to be aware of mosquito control and keep their houses and yards clean and tidy.
Councilors Abul Hashem, Yusuf Ali Pradhan, Aminur Rahman Swapan, Jahangir Alam, Abdul Latif Mintu, Rahima Khatun, Sanitary Inspector Abul Kaisar Shuja and others were present at the time.
According to the Sanitary Department of the municipality, female mosquitoes lay eggs at the end of winter and then the mosquitoes grow. Corona pandemic still exists. In the current situation, to prevent the growth of mosquito eggs, mosquito repellant is being sprayed.
Sanitary Inspector Abul Kaisar Shuja said people may be panicked if a dengue outbreak occurs during the ongoing Corona crisis. That is why this anti-mosquito drive has already been taken.
He said that in addition to spraying ordinary mosquito repellent, Aedes mosquito repellant chemicals will also be sprayed all over Ishwardi municipal area.
