Police arrested 13 alleged drug dealers and seized heroin, cannabis, phensedyl and yaba from their possession through a weeklong raid at different areas of the district.
The 13 arrestees are Sheikh Saadi (45), Altab Hossain (40), Elias Md Sohail Rana (35), Sabibar Hasan Shimul (31), Aminur Islam (40), Sujan Mia (30), Ekramul Haque (38), Alam (29) Ashraful Alam (39), Khorshed Alam Hurka (28), Jasim Uddin (40), Monica Islam Munni (20) and Rabiul Islam (29).
Police recovered six grams of heroin, 14 kgs of cannabis, 208 bottles of Phensedyl and 39 pieces of Yaba tablets from them. Cases were filed against the arrestees.
Anticipating police action, many of the notorious drug dealers have gone underground, police sources said.
Khan Md Shahriar, Officer-in-Charge of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, who has been awarded the best office-in-charge of Kurigram district three times in a row, said, “Anti-drug special drives are going on as per the direction of SP Sir. Raids will be continued to make Kurigram free from illegal drugs.”
He sought cooperation of everyone to make the district free from illegal drugs, drug dealers and drug addicts.
