Anti-corruption debate, essay competition held in Nabinagar

A day-long anti-corruption debate and essay competition has been held at the local upazila parishad auditorium in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria.

The Nabinagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee organised the programme on Thursday on the initiative of Anti-Corruption Commission.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanveer Farhad Shamim was the chief guest at the event while Abbas Uddin Helal moderated the programme with Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee President Abu Kamal Khandkar in the chair.

District Anti-Corruption Committee General Secretary Md Arju and Academy Supervisor Hasnat Jahan attended the programme as special guests while Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee General Secretary Mohammad Hossain Shanti, Press Club President Shyama Prasad Chakraborty, Amena Khatun, Mahbub Alam Liton, Asaduzzaman Kallol, Maulana Abdul Matin and Md Delwar Hossain, among others, spoke at the programme.

Four teams from Nabinagar Govt High School, Nabinagar Ichchamayi Pilot Girls’ High School, Salimganj ARM High School and Shibpur Union High School took part in the debate competition. The debate team of Shibpur Union High School became the winner in the competition while Salimganj ARM High School won the second place. In the essay competition, Masuma Khandaker won the first place while Sumaiya Akhtar the second and Naufel Ahad got the third place. Later, honorary crests and books were distributed among the winners.
