Members of the Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have withdrawn their strike after meeting Home Affairs Adviser Brigadier General (retired) Sakhawat Hossain.
They took the decision on Tuesday upon the assurance of the adviser that effective measures would be taken to address their demands, said a press release of the Ansar Headquarters.
A meeting was held between the newly appointed Director General of Ansar and VDP Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, members of the Ansar and VDP and the adviser in this regard.
Ansar members called a strike demanding their job stability like regular government employees.
Currently, after three years of service, they are sent on a six-month rest period without any ration and other benefits.
There are around one lakh Ansar members, with 55,000 active and 45,000 on rest at present.
