Anisul, Salman, Palak shown arrested in murder cases

Anisul Huq, former law minister, Salman F Rahman, adviser for private industry affairs to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak were shown arrested on Wednesday in connection with several murder cases.

These cases were filed at Badda and Khilgaon police stations following deaths during the quota reform movement in July and August.

During the court proceedings, Anisul, Salman, and Palak were produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi in the morning.

Anisul was arrested in two cases filed with Badda Police Station over the deaths of Taufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Abdul Jabbar Sumon, and Sirajul Bepary. Salman was arrested in three cases filed at Badda and Khilgaon police stations regarding the deaths of Emdadul Haque, Taufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, and Hasan Mahmud.

Anisul and Salman were initially arrested in Sadarghat, Dhaka, on August 13. Subsequently, they were placed on remand for a total of 25 days across multiple cases in three phases.

Palak was shown arrested in two cases lodged with Badda Police Station, connected to the deaths of Emdadul Haque and Taufiqul Islam during the recent quota reform protests. He was arrested by law enforcement in Dhaka’s Nikunja residential area in Khilkhet on August 14.
