Anisul Huq, the former law minister; Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina; and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the former state minister for ICT, were shown arrested on Wednesday in connection with two additional murder cases.
Meanwhile, former social welfare minister Dipu Moni was shown arrested in three murder cases, and Mozammel Babu, the managing director and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV, was shown arrested in one.
All these cases were lodged with the Badda Police Station, related to the deaths that occurred during recent mass protests.
They were brought before
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib’s court today under tight security.
One case, filed on August 21, involved former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Dipu Moni, Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman, Palak, and 174 others over the death of Md Hafizul Sikder on July 20. Another case was filed against Hasina, Anisul Huq, Salman, Dipu Moni, Palak, and 57 others on the same date concerning the death of Md Sohag Miah on August 5. Dipu Moni, Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman, and Palak were shown arrested in these two cases after separate applications were submitted by the investigation officers.
A third case was filed on July 28 against Hasina, Dipu Moni, Mozammel Babu, and 110 others over the death of Taufiqul Islam Bhuiyan on July 21. Dipu Moni and Mozammel Babu were shown arrested in this case following an application by the investigation officer.
