A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued a three-day fresh remand for Bangladesh Jatiyo Party (Manju) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho in connection with a case of vandalism and arson attack on Setu Bhaban in Dhaka on July 18.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifur Rahman issued the remand order following a request from Abu Sayeed Miah, an inspector of the Detective Branch of Police and the investigation officer in the case.
In the same case, garment exporter KM Rezaul Hasanat David, chairman and CEO of Viyellatex Group, was sent to jail after the end of his five-day remand.
David is accused of financing the perpetrators of the vandalism and arson. The court also directed jail authorities to provide him with proper treatments as per the Jail Code after his lawyer submitted an application for his medical care.
Besides, on Tuesday, the court placed Nazmus Shakib and Tauhid Ibn Badar, students of Titumir College, on a four-day remand each after they were brought before the court with a 10-day remand request.
In a separate case, another Dhaka court placed two individuals, including former Jubo Dal general secretary SM Jahangir, on a five-day remand in connection with the vandalism at the Mirpur-10 Metrorail Station on July 19.
The other accused is Omar Sharif Md Imran alias Saniat, son of BNP's Vice-Chairman Barkatullah Bulu.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury passed the remand order following a 10-day remand request from Shikder Mohitul Alam, an inspector of the Detective Branch of Police and the investigation officer in the case.
