Director Ananya Mamun’s upcoming film titled ‘Makeup’ got banned by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board unanimously on Last Tuesday (February 9).
Complaints against the movie was it has misrepresented the people of the movie industry. So it has been banned, a member of the censor board and president of the producers' association Khorshed Alam Khasru, confirming the matter to Bangladesh Post.
He said the upcoming movie 'Makeup' is against our industry. It represents the people of our film industry very badly, which is never desirable and unsuitable for showing. Therefore, ‘Makeup’ has been unanimously banned by the censor board. Now the manufacturer can re-apply to the Appellate Division if he wants.'
Khorshed Alam Khasru added, "We have come to the conclusion that the film is not suitable for screening. Because it has badly presented our film industry. It is not acceptable from a director to make such a movie.”
Regarding the matter producer Ananya Mamun said, "I have not received any such letter yet. But I have heard so much. However, I have an objection to the word forbidden. Even then, I say there is nothing to ban in this movie. When I get the letter, I will be able to decide what to do next. No decision at this time. So if the censor board bands movies, how do we make movies. However, the latest OTT platform is still there.
The film also stars National Film Award winning actors Tariq Anam Khan, Ziaul Roshan and Nipa Ahmed Riley and produced by Celebrity Productions. Ananya Mamun had to go to jail for presenting the police in an obscene manner in the movie 'Nawab LLB' of the same organization.
