A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former minister and Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu, his daughter Sumaia Hossain, assistant private secretary (APS) Majid Mahmud Kiron and Kiron's wife Rafeja Majid over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jakir Hossain passed the order on Monday allowing a plea filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director and investigation officer Rezaul Karim.
In the ACC official said that the veteran Awami League leader allegedly amassed huge illegal wealth through appointment and tender trades and other corruption and embezzled public money.
The ACC is investigating the allegations, and the accused could take attempt to flee the country to evade justice.
So, a travel embargo should be imposed against them to prevent them from escaping justice.
