‘Amar Gram, Amar Shohor’ set to be implemented in Rajshahi, Naogaon

Two villages under Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi and Niamatpur upazila of Noagaon have been included under the 'Amar Gram, Amar Shohor’ (My village, my town) project. 

To ensure the facilities of towns to the people of the villages, the government took a pilot project amounting to Tk. 800 crore in last July. Through the project, all urban facilities will be ensured in 15 villages of the country. 

Of these 15 villages, Sonadanga village under Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi and Khordochampa village under Niamatpur under Naogaon upazila have been included. The project received a nod in the meeting of ECNEC on July 19. The project work is supposed to be completed in June 2026. 

The project works include the construction of roads, bridges, culverts, fields, rural garbage management, water supply system, hat and market, renovation of graveyards and Eidgah and construction of social institutions. The local government department will implement the project.

13 other villages which have been included under the Amar Gram, Amar Sahar project are: Shakchail village under Monoharganj upazila of Cumilla, Tipna village under Dumuria under Khulna, Datinakhali under Shyamnagar of Satkhira, Shimulbak of Sunamganj, Charsarat of Mirsarai under Chattogram, Chhoto Harina under Borkol of Rangamari, Bagaiya under Goyainghat of Sylhet, Pathardubi under Bhurungamari under Kurigram, Fulchhari under Gaibandha, Induria under Hijla of Barishal, Bilchanda under Maksudpur of Gopalganj, Hafizpur under Monohardi of Narsingdi and Dakkhin Demura under Barhatta of Netrokona district. 

Under the project, 657 kilometres of roads, bridges and culverts will be constructed at a cost of Tk. 181 crore, 53,000 'Bandhu Chula' will be supplied for a clean environment and the systems of production of biogas, and street lights will be built. Moreover, 23 rural hats and markets will be constructed, ponds and canals will be excavated and village protection dams will be made under the project. 

68 four-storied residential buildings will be constructed in three villages at a cost of Tk 11o crore, Sports and Cultural Centres will be constructed at a cost of Tk. 62 crore, Tk two crore will be spent for the afforestation beside the rural roads. Under the project, 5,100 young men in the villages will be trained in professional handicrafts and agriculture at a cost of Tk 20 crore.

Also under the project Tk. 43 crore will be spent to ensure pure water supply through pipelines and sanitation and the Waste Disposal Management Centre will be constructed in all pilot villages and the commercial areas of the villages.
