Dhallywood legendary film actor, director and producer Alamgir and his wife Runa Laila received the Lifetime Achievement award from 19th Tele Cine Award at Kolkata for their outstanding contribution in the field of Bangla cinema and song on Saturday May 14 at a program which was held at Nazrul Mancha, India among the presence of numerous artistes from both Kolkata and Bangladesh.
Expressing his feeling the actor said, “Earlier, I received Uttam Kumar Award from Kolkata. Receiving award is a casual matter for me, now I don’t feel any extra satisfaction to receive such kind of award. This place is really close to my heart as it is a city full of life and exuberance. I have done numerous films in Kolkata.
I have worked with popular Indian actresses like Debashree and Indrani. However, this time my wife has honoured with such a prestigious award along with me. Heartiest thanks to everyone and I encourage everyone to watch more and more Bengali movies," said Alamgir.
He urged all to pray for her family so that they can lead a healthy life. The last movie of the popular actor was ‘Ekti Cinemar Golpo’ and he was also the director of the national awarded cinema in which her wife Runa Laila for the first time introduced herself as a music director who received best music director award for the song ‘Golpo Kothar Oi Kolpo Loke Ekdin Chole Jobo’. The daughter of the legendary actor, Akhi Alamgir also got the best play back singer for singing the popular song of the said movie.
Last year, noted actor and the Member of Parliament, Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque won the Lifetime Achievement award at the Tele Cine Awards. Bangladeshi artistes SI Tutul, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Zakia Bari Mamo were also conferred with awards at the event.
