Awami League office at Chandai Bazaar under Baraigram upazila was ransacked following a dissent centering the council of the party on Friday night. Jubo League activist Wadud Sarker has submitted a written complaint with the Superintendent of Police of Natore in this connection. Meanwhile, Local people and a section of AL supporters formed a human chain in protest against ransacking of the AL office in front of Diar Garfa DK Madrasha on Rajapur-Zonail road of Chandai union under Baraigram upazila on Saturday.
According to sources, on Januray-1, 2020, a committee of Majgaon union AL was formed in presence of Local MP and President of district AL Abdul Quddus. But, the committee was not accepted by a faction of AL who also declared to form a counter committee of Chandai Union of AL headed by Natore district AL General Secretary and Member of Parliament of Natore-2 constituency Shafiqul Islam Shimul. The AL faction also started publicity to make the conference of AL to be held on January-5 a success.
It is learnt, around 10-30 pm of Friday President of union AL Shamsuzzaman Golam, General secretary Aminul Islam Intaz and Jubo league activist Wadud Sarker departed from the office by keeping the doors under lock and key. But, after leaving the office, the rival group of AL allegedly headed by Chandai Union Chairman Anisur Rahman Khechu along with 15 to 20 AL and Jubo League leaders including Tikka Sarker, Ziaur Rahman, Saklain Shuvo, Yeahea Alam Magnet stormed over the office and ransacked office furniture by breaking the lock, mentioned Wadud Sarker in the written complaint.
In protest against the incident of ransacking, a faction of AL formed the human chain in front of Diar Garfa DK Madrasha on Rajapur-Zonail road of Chandai union. The human chain was attended, among others, by General Secreatry of Union AL Aminul Islam Entaj, General Secretary of Ward ALSona Ullah, General Secretary of Union Jubo League Moznu Mian and Jubo League leader Delowar Hossain.
During the human chain programme Aminul Islam Ehtaj said, in 2002 and in 2013 he and Shamsuzzaman were elected the the General Secretary and the President respectively of Chandai Union AL and was conducting their responsibility properly but on Janurary-1, this year local Member of Parliament organized the council of AL at the union without informing them and a triennial committee was formed with union chairman Anisur Rahman as the President and Faridul Islam as the General Secretary. In protest against the formation of the committee, rivals also declared to hold a conference of the party on January-5 headed by AL General Secretary and Member of Parliament of Natore-2 Shafiqul Islam Shimul. But, on Friday night the incident of the ransacking of the AL office occurred.
Dr. Siddiqur rahman Patowari, Health and Population Affairs Secretary of district AL and Upazila Chairman, informed, the incident of ransacking was happened with a heinous attempt to disrupt the council.
Chandai Union Chairman, AL leader Anisur Rahman said, though the house was used as AL office, it was in fact, a center for meeting and discussion of Jamaat and BNP, as a result, some unidentified people have ransacked the AL office and by no means he or his leaders and activists was involved with the incident.
