Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and former lawmaker Amir Hossain Amu was arrested on Wednesday from the city's Pashchim Dhanmondi area.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the arrest in a brief message.
Amu, a former Jatiya Sangsad member from Jhalokati-2 constituency, also served as the minister of industries of the then Awami League government during 2014–2019.
He was holding the position of coordinator and spokesman for the Awami League-led 14-party grand alliance.
