Top ranking leaders of Bangladesh Awami League and other senior leaders of the party’s different wings are seriously busy with the tasks of selecting new leaders, who are competent enough to take the new challenges in the days to come. They are working hard for holding councils of the party and its associate organisations in bids of opting for the best leaders with clean images, honesty and free from the allegations of corruptions, extortions, smuggling and any other criminal charges.
The top ranking leaders are also serious about keeping the intruders away from the councils and new leaderships. Meanwhile, with the formation of new committee of Krishok League, the farmers’ wing of AL, the ruling party has started replacement of its leaders with honesty and clean images.
According to sources in the AL and its different front organisations, no intruders, extortionists, corrupt and those who do not belong to the party’s ideology and policy will not be allowed in the new committees in AL and its front organisations. The sources also said the AL and its different wings have prepared a list with the names of around 1,500leaders, who are said to be the intruders in the party and also involved with crimes and corruptions.
So that any of the enlisted 1,500 intruders, corrupts and criminals could not get chance being a leader of any of the committee or get any post, the list has been sent to all the districts and units. As part of the ongoing cleansing drives, the AL also has started cleansing activities in its party and its different wings or front organisations.
The process of election and selection of new leaderships for AL and its front organisations has begun recently through councils and as part of the process, the first council has been held on Wednesday at the capital’s Institute of Engineers’ Bangladesh (IEB) with the selection of new leadership of Krishok League. Samir Chandra Chanda has been selected as the president and Umme Kulsum Akhter Smriti as the general secretary for their clean image, said the party sources.
The leaderships have been selected in presence of Prime Minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina, who is also the organisational chief of Krishok League. Before the announcement of the new leaders for Krishok League, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader had said that new leadership would be selected on the basis of clean image and honesty as well as sacrificing minds.
According to party sources, after the formation of the new committee of the Krishok League, the council of the Swechchha Sebok League will be held for the selection of its new leaderships. Like Swechchhasebok League, councils of all other front organisations of the AL will be held gradually and later, the council of the AL will also be held. Meanwhile, the councils for different district units and route level committees will be held across the country.
AL general secretary Obaidul Quader also said, with the selection of new leadership for Krishok League, a cleaning drive has been launched inside the AL. “Through the ongoing cleansing drives, Sheikh Hasina will gift new leaderships with clean image to the nation”, said Obaidul Quader and also urged the party leaders, activists and supports to pay attention on it.
