Leaders and activists of Bauphal Upazila Awami League and its associate organisations brought out a mourning procession in Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali district on Saturday marking the month of mourning.
The procession was taken out from the Janata Bhaban office of upazila AL around 11:00am. It paraded different roads of the upazila and ended at the party office. In the procession, Awami League leaders, activists and supporters gave various slogans in favour of liberation war and against the banned anti-independence organisation Jamaat-Shibir.
Upazila Awami League Vice-President and Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Mosaref Hossain Khan, Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Anisur Rahman, Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary Ibrahim Farooq, Upazila Jubo League President and Zilla Parishad member Md Shahjahan Siraj, Upazila Jubo League Organising Secretary Ibrahim Khalil, Upazila Swechchhasebak League President Harun Or Rashid Khan and General Secretary Riazul Islam Sikder, among others, joined the procession.
Earlier, upazila AL president ASM Feroz, MP exchanged views with the party leaders and workers at the party office at Janata Bhaban around 10:00 am.
Calling upon the party leaders and activists to be ready to deal with all conspiracies against the country and protect people's lives, he said, “Awami League agrees with the demands of the students. The government accepted the demands of the students and reformed the quota system. Quota reform notification has also been issued. Even after that, the anti-independence force BNP-Jamaat is continuing anarchy, violence and arson in the country by relying on the students. BNP has indulged in corpse politics. We do not do corpse politics. We want peace. Students should go home as the rest of their demands will also be accepted.”
