The Awami League nomination board on Saturday night in a meeting disclosed the decision nominating sixteen for union council chairman as the final candidates of Awami League given ‘boat’ symbol to vie in the coming second phase of union council election.
Among the thirty nine union councils of the district, 16 were scheduled to hold the election on November 11.
The boat symbol winner candidates are Matiur Rahman of Alirtek, Md Shawkot Ali of Baktobali, Asaduzzaman of Enayetnagar, Jashimuddin Ahmed of Gognogar, M Saif Ullah Badal of Kashipur, Monirul Alam Sentu of Kutubpur, Mohammad Mojibur Rahman of Musapur, Masum Ahmed of Dhamgarh, Mohammad Salam Mia of Modonpur, Kazimuddin of Kolagachia, Moktar Hossain of Bandar, Ariful Haq Bhuiyan of Bholta, Tayebur Rahman of Bholabo, Kamrul Hasan Bhuiyan of Golakandail, Tofayel Ahmed of Murapara and Zahed Ali of Kayitpara union.
Awami League backed chairman candidates are most of second time nominated and they hold the party's vital post.
