Passenger crossing to India via the Akhaura International Immigration Check Post at Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district was resumed on a limited basis after being closed for three and a half hour on Wednesday.
Passenger crossing was closed due to the strike of immigration police from 10 am on Wednesday.
The immigration authorities said that crossing of passengers through the check post became normal from 1 pm on Wednesday.
However, immigration process for people with tourist visa and business visa will remain suspended till further instruction.
Officer-in-Charge of Akhaura International Immigration Check Post Md. Khairul Alam said the police members went on strike for various demands including ensuring their security.
The members of the Akhaura Immigration Police also started a strike on the same demand from 10 am on Wednesday. Immigration to in India was suspended due to that.
Later, due to humanitarian reason, immigration process was resumed again from 1 pm to end the sufferings of the people. However, among the Bangladeshi passengers, only seriously ill medical visa holders are being allowed to travel to India.
Officer-in-charge Khairul Alam said that the crossing of passengers with tourists and business visa remained suspended.
