Ten Awami League leaders including independent candidate Abdul Kader Azad (AK Azad) of Faridpur-3 constituency in the 12th National Parliament election have been relieved from party post for violation of organisational discipline.
The matter was informed in a circular signed by District Awami
League President Shamim Haque and General Secretary Ishtiaq Arif on Thursday.
Abdul Kader Azad (AK Azad) is a member of District Awami League Advisory Council. He is contesting as an independent candidate after being deprived of party nomination in Faridpur-3 constituency. District Awami League president Shamim Haque got nomination for the same seat.
Others exempted are District Awami League members Advocate Subal Chandra Saha, Monirul Hasan Mithu, Abul Batin and Shahidul Islam Niru, Joint General Secretary Shawkat Ali Zahid, Women Affairs Secretary Ivy Masud, Treasurer Yashoda Jiban Debnath, Advisory Council members Khalifa Kamal Uddin and Shah Alam Mukul.
According to the notification, for doing election against the Bangladesh Awami League President elected candidate in the Faridpur-3 parliamentary seat, direct support for the opposition candidate and your absence from the election meeting of the party chief is an arrogant behaviour.
Which is contrary to party ideals, goals, objectives, constitution and interest of the organisation. For related reasons, you have been relieved from party post due to violation of organisational discipline as per Article 47 (1) and 47 (11) of the party constitution.
