Two young men- Omar Faruk and Al-Mamun- have rescued an endangered, ailing Eagle from the Botrish area of the Kishoreganj Municipal area recently.
On February 24, Omar Faruk and Al Mamun watched the ailing and aged Eagle weighing four kilogrammes with two feet in height sitting on a branch of a tree behind the Veterinary (Animal) Hospital. They rescued the Eagle and treated it at the Animal Hospital. The local organisation Gyyan Sorobar also took care of the Eagle and handed it over to Faruk and Al Mamun.
They are now feeding the Eagle with fish and taking intensive care of the bird to make it fit to fly. The bird is recovering fast but still, it can not fly. Omar Faruk said, the bird had been sitting on the top of a Mango tree behind the Veterinary Hospital in the evening. However, the bird fell on the ground while trying to catch the flying Pipistrelle ( Chamchika) or Bat and became wounded. Night Guard of the Hospital Abul Hossain caught the Eagle around 8-00 P.M. and kept it with him. In the morning Omar Faruk and Al Mamun took the bird to the doctor at the Animal Hospital and the doctor treated it. Now, Faruk and Mamun were treating the Eagle and feeding it with various fish including Grass Carp, Puti, Silver Carp etc. They would hand over the Eagle to the Department of Forestry after it's recovery.
The Veterinary Officer of Kishoreganj Saiful Islam informed, the Eagle has been given the necessary treatment. The eagle might be more than 40 years of age.
He hoped the endangered bird would recover after several months of treatment and would be able to fly.
