Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam visited the family of Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf, a college student who was killed during the July student protest.
Nahid Islam went to Ahnaf’s home in Paikpara, Mirpur, on Wednesday. He met with Ahnaf’s mother, father, two brothers, and aunt.
During the visit, the adviser asked about Ahnaf’s younger brother’s studies and assured the family of ongoing support.
Nahid Islam remarked, "The students' sacrifices during the uprising have led to the creation of our new, independent Bangladesh. We will soon hold a memorial service for all the martyrs, and we hope your family can attend."
He added that the nation will remember those who died in the movement. "Many students lost their lives, and we are working to identify them. So far, we have listed 800 names."
At BAF Shaheen College, seventeen-year-old Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf was enrolled in the eleventh grade. On August 4, 2024, he was shot by the police in Mirpur-10; the bullet passed through his right chest and out the other side.
