Implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) from July to March of the current fiscal year is 45.56 percent.
The ADP implementation in first eight months of the last fiscal year was 41.92 per cent.
The execution rate was 10.53 percent in March of 2021-22 fiscal year, which was 7.23 percent in the same month of the last fiscal year. The progress report of the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Planning Commission unveiled the matter.
The data was revealed at the executive committee of the national economic council (ECNEC) meeting held at the National Economic Council (NEC) conference room in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.
Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) data showed that the government spent Tk 98,934.92 crore in current fiscal out of Tk 2,17,175.35 crore for revised ADP projects. A total of 1,754 projects were included in the ADP.
In 2020-21 fiscal year, the implementation rate was 82.21 percent. The government spent Tk 172,051 crore out of Tk 209,272 crore for ADP projects in the FY. A total of 1,946 projects were included in the ADP.
The government gave more importance to the health sector considering the coronavirus situation.
However, IMED found that the Statistic and Information Division has spent lowest 3.94 percent per cent ADP in the eight months of the current fiscal.
Parliament Secretariat has spent 100 per cent ADP in the eight months while Defense ministry has spent 19.58 percent.
The Ministry of Industries has spent 75.76 percent while Financial Institution Division spent 35.73 percent.
After the ECNEC meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters that the government wants to implement the development projects in the stipulated time frame. The project implementation has increased compared to the Covid period, he added.
“We want to ensure quality work in implementing the project. We will give more focus in implementing projects on time. We will execute the ADP allocations completely from the next fiscal year,” he further said.
