Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have suspended their fourth phase admission process for the academic year 2023-24. The announcement came via the Engineering Group's central admission website on Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for July 14 and 15, the fourth phase admissions have been postponed. Revised dates will be communicated to students through SMS and the university websites soon.

In addition to the admission process, the orientation programs for newly admitted students at CUET, KUET, and RUET have also been put on hold. The universities will announce new orientation dates shortly.

The decision to suspend admissions was influenced by an ongoing strike by teachers, officers, and employees. They are advocating for the withdrawal of the universal pension scheme and reforms to the university student quota system.

Initially set for July 3 and 4, the fourth phase admission dates were rescheduled to July 14 and 15 due to the strike. Likewise, the orientation originally planned for July 31 has been postponed.

Following the third phase of admissions, a list of universities and departments was published based on merit and student preferences. Currently, 3,045 students have secured admission out of 3,110 available seats, leaving 65 seats vacant. These vacancies include 8 seats in CUET's Urban and Planning Division, 34 in RUET's Urban and Planning Division, 11 in KUET's Leather Engineering Division, and 12 in KUET's Urban and Planning Division.

For the academic year, CUET offers 931 seats, KUET offers 1,065 seats, and RUET offers 1,035 seats in total.
