Sunetra, a popular actress from the 1980s and 1990s on the silver screen, has passed away at the age of 53. She succumbed to kidney disease on April 23 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Zayed Khan, former general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association, confirmed Sunetra's death through a post on his verified Facebook page. He wrote, "Sunetra was once a popular actor and one of my favourites. Though she left Bangladesh much earlier, I kept in touch with her during my tenure as general secretary. Today, I heard the sad news of her passing. She left us silently. I hope she remains well in the afterlife. I will watch her films and miss her dearly."
Born as Rina Sunetra Kumar in Kolkata on July 7, 1970, Sunetra was the younger of two siblings. She completed her secondary education at Gokhale Memorial High School and earned a Master's degree in Zoology from Kolkata University. Besides her work in Indian films, Sunetra also starred in many Bangladeshi and Pakistani films.
Her notable films include "Boner Moto Bon," "Jogajog," "Bhul Bichar," "Sajano Bagan," "Ghar Bhanga Ghar," "Usila," "Laila Amar Laila," and "Alal Dulal." Sunetra’s legacy in the film industry will be remembered fondly by her fans and colleagues.
