Actor Mujibur Rahman Dilu passes away

Actor and freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman Dilu passed away at a hospital in the city in the early hours of Tuesday.  He was 69. Dilu breathed his last at about 6.30am at the United Hospital in Gulshan. He died of severe pneumonia. (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un) 

Kamal Bayezid Secretary General of the group theater federation has confirmed the news. Playwright Ataur Rahman also shared the news of his death on Facebook. In a post, he wrote, "My younger brother actor and freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman Dilu passed away at 8:35 am today (yesterday) and became a passenger of Infinite." 

Mujibur Rahman Dilu was featured in Humayun Ahmed's play 'Shangsaptak' aired on BTV as 'Bara Malu'. Many people know him as 'Bara Malu'. His notable plays are: 'Tathapi', 'Shomoy oshomoy', 'Shansaptak' etc. Born on November 6 in 1952, Dilu was listed as a Bangladesh Television actor in 1972. 

He was lauded by both the audiences and critics for his role ‘Malu’ in TV drama ‘Shangshaptak’. He had adapted, directed and acted in several theatre productions namely ‘Ami Gadha Bolchhi’, ‘Janatar Rangoshala’, ‘Nana Ranger Dinguli’, and others.

It is learnt that the body was taken to Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy yesterday afternoon to pay their last respects. 

The first Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased will be held at Central Mosque of Dhaka University. His body will also be kept at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 5 pm. Then, he will be honored with a ceremonial guard and buried at the Banani graveyard after Asr prayers.

Earlier in 2005, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and fell into a coma. Eventually, his condition improved and he recovered.
