Legendary actor of Bengali movie and Dhaka-17 constituency MP Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque has been admitted to the ICU after falling ill again. “He is currently in the ICU of a hospital in Singapore,” Farooque’s niece Asma Pathan Rumpa confirmed the matter.
She said her uncle Farooque had been ill for a long time. He was tested positive for Covid-19 a few months ago and recovered. “But last Thursday, he went to Singapore for a checkup. He was under the supervision of a doctor there. His condition suddenly deteriorated today (Saturday). So, he was taken to the ICU immediately,” Rumpa said.
Before this, Farooque was admitted to the Singaporean hospital a few times. The veteran actor spent his last birthday lying in the hospital bed.
Actor Farooq started his acting career in 1971 with the film ‘Jalchabi’ directed by H Akbar. His notable films – ‘Lathial’, ‘Sujon Sokhi’, ‘Nayanmoni’, ‘Sareng Bou’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Train E’, ‘Alor Michil’, ‘Din Jay Kotha Thake’, ‘Mia Bhai’, etc – are very popular among the viewers.
