‘The Pir (cleric) of Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif and his followers (murids) are misleading innocent people of the country with the fragmentary interpretation of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, inciting people to kill and join so-called Jihad in the name of religion.
Their activities are similar to those of the militants. Their dangerous activities can spread extremism and militancy. This information has been given in a report of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police submitted to the High Court.
The CTTC submitted the report following a court order over 49 fake cases filed by Rajarbagh Pir syndicate against one Ekramul Ahsan Kanchan, a resident of the Shantinagar area in the capital.
The report was placed to the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on Sunday (December 5) during the hearing of a writ petition in this regard.
During the hearing, the HC bench issued an order clearing the way for imposing a travel ban against the Rajarbagh Pir named Dillur Rahman by the CTTC, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police, or the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) if necessary for probing the case against him.
The higher court also ordered the CTTC unit to monitor the activities of Dillur Rahman all the time.
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir and Advocate Emdadul Haque Bashir argued for the writ petition.
Advocate Shishir Manir told the media that any victim can file a case against the Rajarbagh Pir and his syndicate based on the report filed by CID. The court also asked the lawyer of stateside Bipul Bagmar to speak to the law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of lawyer Shishir Manir.
He said that the CID will file another report and the prosecution will bring it to the notice of the court. The next order along with the report of the ACC will come on the cause list on February 13 in 2022.
A total of 49 criminal cases were filed with different police stations and courts across the country against Kanchan on various charges including murder, rape, torture of women, extortion and human trafficking in the last 11 years.
