The government would take action to enforce the health rules after observing the current situation of Covid-19 infection for two to three days, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam.
“Instructions have been given to the authorities concerned including the law enforcement agencies in this regard”, he added.
He made the statement at a press briefing at the Secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Monday.
“We have already said that we will observe for a couple of days, then we will take some actions. We do not want to go into action immediately. We would like to see if people follow the health rules,” he said.
Mentioning that there is a misconception among the people about the Corona issue, the cabinet secretary said, “We think that the infected cases are of Omicron, but 80 percent of the cases are of Delta variants.”
Anwarul Islam said, “We have to be careful. A disaster lies ahead if we do not remain careful. The infection rate has already crossed 17 percent.”
“Without creating awareness among communities, adopting safety measures and wearing masks it will not be possible to prevent the infection. People need to understand this as this cannot be implemented by force alone,” he further said.
