The executive director of TIB thinks that the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) became failure in preventing corruption and money laundering.

In this situation, he also thinks that it is necessary to re-organize the ACC.

'Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), CID of Police, Attorney General and National Board of Revenue (NBR) have failed to prevent money laundering. These institutions should also be organized, Iftekharuzzaman said.

He came up with the statement at the debate competition organized by Debate for Democracy at the FDC of the capital on Saturday.

Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran presided over the event.

Regarding ACC, TIB's executive director said, "There was external pressure on the institution. There was internal incompetence, inefficiency, lack of honest courage and fortitude. All in all the institution was dysfunctional. ACC has failed. There is no way but to re-arrange it, it has to be done. However, there are many officials in the ACC who had efforts and initiatives.

Claiming that several institutions including ACC, police have been weakened due to politicization, he said, "Due to excessive politicization, these institutions have been kept ineffective."

Iftekharuzzaman alleged that former Land Minister Saifuzzaman's money laundering complaint and information was provided to ACC, BFIU, CID but these institutions did not take any action.
