Veteran actor Abul Hayat, who has spent over 60 years in drama and acting, is set to celebrate his 80th birthday on September 7. To mark the occasion, he has completed writing his autobiography titled "Robi Poth," named after his childhood nickname, Robi. The cover painting and publication preparations are underway.
Born in 1947 in a village in Murshidabad, Abul Hayat moved to Chattogram with his family as a child. Influenced by his cultured father and inspired by Amlendu Biswas’ stage plays, he developed a passion for drama early on. His journey took him from Chattogram Collegiate and Railway High School to BUET, where he studied civil engineering, graduating in 1967. Hayat worked as an engineer with Dhaka Wasa and later as a consultant in Libya and Laos, experiences he reflects on in his book.
"Robi Poth" documents Hayat’s life from birth to the present, though he admits some personal details were left out due to various limitations. The book spans over 300 pages and includes stories about his journey that may inspire his descendants and fans.
Abul Hayat's elder daughter, Bipasha Hayat, a popular actress and painter, is creating the cover art for the book. Bipasha, now living in the USA, has been a major source of encouragement for her father to write his autobiography. The book is set to be published by Suvarna, a publishing house owned by the friend of Hayat’s younger daughter, Natasha. Although there were initial doubts about the publication, encouragement from family and friends motivated Hayat to complete the book, which is expected to be released by September.
