Dhaka Bank chairman Abdul Hai Sarkar was elected as a chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB).
First Security Islami Bank chairman Abdul Mannan and Bank Asia chairman Romo Rauf Chowdhury became the vice chairman of the organisation.
In the general meeting of BAB on Monday, a new committee was formed by making them chairman and vice chairman.
Abdul Hai Sarkar was born in a Muslim family in Sirajganj. He completed his Masters (M.Com) in 1970 from Dhaka University. At the end of his education, he got involved in international business and became known as an industrialist.
In addition, he is the former chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), former vice chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) and former director of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI).
He is the former chairman of Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT) of Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB)).
Notably, Abdul Hai Sarkar is a founding member of the Board of Trustees of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and former
associate director of International Cotton Association based in Liverpool, UK.
