After coming from a goal down, Abahani Limited returned to their winning ways in the Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League football defeating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-1 on Friday.
Held at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Goplaganj, Abahani, after conceding an early goal came from behind to win the match by 2-1.
Meanwhile, both former champions after are far behind of title chasing to the league leader Bashundhara Kings, onset the game with high intensity when Sheikh Jamal drew the first blood through Mohammed Abdullah broke the deadlock.
Abdullah struck in the very eighth minute to stun their Dhanmondi neighbours Abahani to lead Jamal (1-0).
The six times champions four times in a row, Abahani Limited, who have been going by a frustrating time for last few seasons, took 20 minutes to bounce back with an equalizer.
Brazilian forward Jonathon Fernandez levelled margin on 28th minute when Corneless Stewart scored just on the last minute of the opening 45 minutes to lead Abahani (2-1).

In the day’s other match, 10-man Bangladesh Police FC defeated former champions Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by a solitary goal. Kirmani scored the all-important goal of the match for Police FC, who were reduced to 10-man after Zahidur Rahman had marching order on 58th minute.
After the win Police increased their tally to 17 from 12 matches with five wins, two draws and five defeats.
