Title contenders Abahani Limited registered their seventh straight victory in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Hockey League as they beat Bangladesh Police Sporting Club by 4-2 at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Monday.
In the proceeding, national forward Rakibul Hasan Rocky scored a brace while Ashraful Alam and Indian recruit Shishi Gowad supported him with a lone goal each for Abahani Limited. Abdul Malek and Ahsan Habib netted one goal apiece for Bangladesh Police Sporting Club.
Abahani took the lead early in the 5th minute of the first quarter through a field goal by Rakibul Hasan Rocky.
Police also squandered several chances in this quarter. They got total eight penalty corners in the whole match, but were able to convert only one of them into a goal.
Rocky doubled the lead scoring his second field goal in the 23rd minute of the second quarter while Abdul Malek pulled one back scoring a field goal for Police in the 29th minute of the match. In the third quarter, both teams got several scoring chances, but could not convert any due to lack of proper finishing. In the fourth quarter, Ashraful further widened the Abahani's margin converting a penalty corner in the 52nd minute while Shishi scored the fourth goal for sky blue Dhanmondi outfit in the 55th minute of the match. Ahsan Habib reduced the margin scoring the second goal for Police converting a penalty corner in the 59th minute of the match.
