In a bold move signalling its next major innovation, Apple is developing a groundbreaking tabletop device that combines an iPad-style display with a sophisticated robotic arm.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this new product features actuators allowing the display to tilt, swivel, and rotate 360 degrees, potentially transforming how you interact with your smart home.
The device, currently in development by a dedicated team of several hundred under the leadership of Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of technology, aims to debut between 2026 and 2027 with an anticipated price tag of around $1,000.
It will integrate with Siri and advanced Apple Intelligence features, such as the “look at me” command, which adjusts the screen's position to face the user during video calls.
Apple’s venture into home robotics follows the cancellation of its long-rumored car project and the recent introduction of the Vision Pro.
As the tech giant explores this new frontier, it joins a growing list of companies investing in home robotics—joining Samsung's Ballie and stepping in as Amazon phases out its Astro bot amid rumours of a major generative AI update.
