Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt has launched Aetherflux, a startup focused on space-based solar power. The company aims to provide clean energy anywhere on Earth, day or night, using satellites to collect and transmit solar energy.
“What we’re doing at Aetherflux is a different approach to space solar power,” Bhatt explained. Unlike traditional methods that rely on expensive, large spacecraft in geostationary orbit, Aetherflux plans to deploy thousands of smaller satellites in low Earth orbit. Each satellite will have solar arrays and a laser to beam energy back to Earth.
Founded late last year, Aetherflux reflects Bhatt's long-standing interest in space, influenced by his father’s work at NASA. The company is set to launch a demonstration spacecraft by late 2025 or early 2026, aiming to prove the viability of its technology. If successful, Aetherflux could transform how we harness solar energy.
