A smart classroom is a highly upgraded classroom equipped with different educational technologies that enhance the teaching and learning process for both the teachers and the students, including audios, videos, animations, and images, by using computers, tablets, the internet, interactive whiteboards, projectors, etc. for imparting quality education. It stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Based Goals. Smart classrooms also reduce distractions, and therefore, students can concentrate more and get more information. Smart classes are the revolution in today's classrooms. It is a new way of education through new technology where the teaching and learning process is child-centric and becomes very interesting and effective.

The traditional concept of chalk and duster classrooms has been challenged by the emergence of technology and rapid digitization. Smart boards or whiteboards serve the same purpose as a blackboard, but in a digital way. Teachers can save the lessons taught and share them with students for further reading. Laptops and tablets are the new notebooks for students in a smart classroom. They can write their assignments and search for information on the internet with their gadgets. Smart classrooms are advantageous in a lot of ways. Learning has been easy with this innovative approach to teaching. Digital tools such as e-books and presentations through smart boards help in understanding complex concepts in a better way. Students can attend smart classrooms from anywhere. So, they don't need to attend school every day. Malaysia found a significant difference in the students’ academic performance in the conventional and smart classrooms. Singapore considers technology-supported education an important part of an intelligent nation. Australia collaborated with IBM in 2012 to build a smart student-centric education system. South Korea reformed its educational system using technology for learning. Finland focused on the smart education process to promote 21st-century learning.

Quality education is an essential requisite in today’s competitive environment. We are living in the age of the internet, so our education system is also going to be online. The use of the internet in schools and education is not only a dream, but a necessity of the time. To ensure quality education to meet new challenges and develop students’ abilities and performance, a smart classroom is very useful. In the period of artificial intelligence and the fourth industrial revolution, if we want to survive and if we want to change ourselves as smart Bangladeshis, we need smart citizens through smart education. To achieve the goal, we need a smart classroom because a smart classroom is a center of quality education. Though the technology used in smart classrooms is very expensive,  Well-trained teachers are needed for smart classrooms. The gadgets used in smart classrooms require proper maintenance. So, we have to ensure sufficient allocation for education. We can think of it as an investment. At the same time, we have to be alert to the harmful effects of technology.
