9 brokers nabbed from Jhenaidah Sadar hospital

Nine brokers including five women were arrested in joint drives by Jhenaidah district administration and detective branch (DB) police from Jhenaidah Sadar hospital on Wednesday noon. 

Later they arrested were awarded by a mobile court for various terms in the prison. 

The arrested convicts were Selim Hossain of Shikarpur village, Apu Mandal of Hamdah Majhipara, Bidyut Ghosh of Kalabagan area, Raju Ahmed of Panchpakhia village, Taslima Begum of Ghoshpara, Mariya Khatun of Maharajpur, Srity begum of Kulchara, Afrin Sultana of Sheikhpara and Bilkis Begum of Ramchandrapur village.

District administration sources said they were informed that a number brokers in gang had been harassing the innocent patients to get admitted in different private clinics for better treatment there leaving the government hospital. They were engaged in 

motivating the people to purchase medicine from their respective shops near the hospital gate. 

The mobile court conduc­ted by executive magistrates of the office of the deputy commissioner SM Nurun­nabi and Laila Yasmeen had awarded for a month to each of the brokers and imposed a fine for Taka 200 each. 

The DB police personnel led by cybercrime in-charge sub inspector (SI) Shariful Islam were present there.

Superintendent of Jhenaidah Sadar hospital Dr. Syed Rezaul Islam the brokers had been demotivating the innocent patients and their relatives to get admitted and private hospital leaving the hospital and buy medicines for their selected medicine shops. 

The arrested had assured of leaving the evil activities they had been running.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Jhenaidiah SM Rafiqul Islam when contacted said the drive against the brokers will ease the sufferings and harassment of the innocent patients and they could avail the treatment at government hospitals free of cost.
