The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations-2024 under 11 education boards were published on Sunday with 83.04 percent pass rate, a 2.65 percent rise than the last year.
“A total of 20, 13,597 examinees appeared in the SSC and equivalent examinations this year. Of them, 16, 72,153 students passed the examinations,” Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury announced the results at a press briefing at the education ministry in the capital city of Dhaka.
State Minister for Education Shamsun Nahar, senior officials and chairmen of different education boards, among others, were present at the briefing.
A total of 1, 82,129 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the examinations in the SSC and equivalent examinations which was 1,83,578 last year, he said, adding, “Of them, 83,353 are male and 98,776 are female students”.
Earlier, the education minister formally handed over the combined result statistics of the SSC and equivalent examinations to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban in the capital city of Dhaka on Sunday morning.
The chairmen of 11 education boards - nine general, one madrasa and one technical - also handed over the result statistics of their respective boards to the premier.
In the nine general education boards, some 13, 45,678 students passed out of 16, 06,394 - where some 6, 23,853 are male and some 7, 21,825 are females. A total of 1, 63,845 students got GPA5 the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the SSC exams, according to the results published on Sunday.
In the Madrasah Education Board, a total of 2,26,754 students - 1,09,714 male and 1,17,040 female - passed out of 2,84,665 students. Of them, some 14, 206 students got GPA-5.
In the Technical Education Board, 99,721 students - 72,986 male and
26,735 female - passed out of total 1, 22,538 students. Of them, 4,078 students got the GPA-5. The pass rates in different education boards of the country are: 92.33 percent in Jashore Board, 89.26 in Rajshahi Board, 89.13 in Barishal Board, 85 percent in Mymensingh Board, 83.92 in Dhaka Board, 82.80 in Chattogram Board, 81.38 in the Technical Education Board, 79.66 in the Madrasah Board, 79.23 in Cumilla Board, 78.33 in Dinajpur Board and 73.35 in Sylhet Board.
A total of 347 students appeared in the exams through the exam centres abroad and of them, 298 students have become successful.
The results had also published at the respective educational institutions and online simultaneously around 11am.
Students can get their results through SMS and also can get it by visiting the website www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.

A total of 1,82,129 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the SSC and equivalent examinations-2024 under 11 education boards across the country this year, which was 1,83,578 in 2023 and 2,69,602 in 2022.
Among the GPA-5 holders, 83,353 are male and 98,776 are female students.
According to the results, a total of 1,63, 845 students achieved GPA-5 under General Education Boards while 14, 206 Dhakil students obtained the grade under the Madrasah Education Board and the number of vocational GPA-5 achievers under the Technical Board stands 4,078.
Less GPA-5 holders than last year
Fewer students have secured GPA-5 in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in 2024 compared to last year.
As many as 1,82,129 students of the 20,13,597 who sat for the exams this year have secured GPA-5, which amounts to 9.04%. The number of GPA-5 last year was 1,83,578.
Meanwhile, girls have outshined boys in both the pass rate and the number of GPA-5 like last year.
83.04% of the students who participated in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations have passed.
Among the boys, the pass rate is 81.57%. For girls, it is 84.47%.
The number of GPA-5 shows a similar picture.
8.42% of the boys (83,353) secured GPA-5, while 9.63% girls (98,776) did.
Out of all three disciplines in SSC, science students have the highest pass rate, followed by Business Studies and Humanities.
Dhaka tops in GPA-5, Jashore in pass rate
Students of the Dhaka Education Board (DEB) have secured the maximum number of highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations.
A total of 49,290 students from the board secured GPA-5 in the SSC examinations while the Rajshahi Education Board secured second position in terms of GPA-5 recipients with 28,074 students.
The third highest GPA-5 recipients were from Jashore Board with 20,762 students followed by Dinajpur Board with 18,105 students, Madrasha Board with 14,206 students, Mymensingh Board with 13,176 students, Cumilla Board with 12,100 students and Chattogram Board with 10,824 students.
Technical Education Board (TEB) had the lowest number of GPA-5s with 4,078 students while Barisal and Sylhet Education Boards did slightly better with 6,145 and 5,471 GPA-5 recipients respectively.
Pass rate highest in Jashore, lowest in Sylhet
Jashore Education Board has secured a 92.32% pass rate, the highest among the nine boards in the 2024 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
Sylhet, on the other hand, remained at the bottom with a 73.35% pass rate. The board was at the bottom with a 76.06% pass rate last year as well.
2,968 educational institutions achieve 100pc successes in SSC exams
A total of 2,968 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations, while the number was 2,354 last year.
Of those, 174 institutions are from Dhaka, 289 from Rajshahi, 98 from Cumilla, 422 from Jashore, 66 from Chattogram, 222 from Barishal, 31 from Sylhet, 77 from Dinajpur, 80 from Mymensingh while 1,089 are under Madrasah Board and 440 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).
None from 51 institutions passes SSC, equivalent exams
Students from 51 schools and madrasahs under five education boards out of 11 boards failed to come out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.
According to the SSC results published here today, two institutions are in Rajshahi Education Board, three in Dhaka, five in Mymensingh and 42 institutions are in Madrasah Education Board.
The number of schools and madrasahs with “zero results” was 48 last year.
13,72,153 examinees pass in 9 general education board
As many as 13,72,153 candidates have come out successful in the nine general education boards with 83.77 percent pass rate this year.

Madrasah Board attains 79.66 pc pass rate
The pass rate of Madrasah Board in the Dakhil examination this year is 79.66 which was 74.7 in 2023 and 82.22 in 2022.
A total of 14, 206 students obtained GPA -5 this year. Of them, 7,467 are female students and 6,739 are male.
In terms of pass rate, Jashore Education Board has secured the top position among all 11 education boards with 92.33 percent pass rate while Sylhet Board witnessed the lowest pass rate of 73.35.
The pass rates of other boards are: 89.26 percent in Rajshahi Board, 89.13 percent in Barishal Board, 85 percent in Mymensingh Board, 83.92 percent in Dhaka Board, 82.80 percent in Chattogram Board, 81.38 percent in the Technical Education Board, 79.23 percent in Cumilla Board and 78.33 percent in Dinajpur Board.
Technical Education Board attains 81.38 pc pass rate
The pass rate of Technical Education Board in the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations is 81.38 percent while 4,078 students secured GPA-5.
Among the GPA-5 holders, 2, 141 are female students while the number of male GPA-5 holder students is 1,937.
298 overseas students pass SSC exams
A total of 298 students of eight foreign centres have come out successful in the SSC examinations this year with 85.88 percent pass rate.
