Eight activists of Islamic University (IU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were suspended, student’s for their involvement in anti-organizational activities.
A press release was issued in this regard on Tuesday signed by IU BCL president Faisal Siddike Arafat and general secretary Nasim Ahmed Joy.
The suspended activists are— Sabbir Khan of Management department and Shamim Reza of Law department under 2018-19 academic session, Akib Masud Anubhav and Abdul Quader of Management department. Others are- Parvez Hossain Banat of Law department under 202-21 academic session of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall unit, Ashik Quraishi of Human Resource Management department under 2019-20 academic session of Sheikh Russel Hall unit, Shahdullah Siddiqui Saimun of Accounting and Information System department and Tasin Azad of Finance and Banking department under 2020-21 academic session of Jatirpita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall unit.
“The eight activists were suspended for their involvement in anti-organizational activities. They violated organization rules and regulations. A written statement would be submitted to the central for their permanent expulsion from the organization”, said unit president Faisal Siddike Arafat.
On August 20, a discussion programme marking the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 48th martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day titled ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ was held at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university. After this programme, Zia Hall BCL unit and Russel Hall unit were locked in an altercation and they wounded each other with sharp weapons in front of the Auditorium around 2:00 pm. Around five activists from both groups were injured on the spot.
