Mother Salma Begum has claimed that Raihan died due to police torture at Bandarbazar outpost in Sylhet. She said a week had passed since the incident but the accused had not been arrested yet.
If the police personnel involved in the case, including SI Akbar, are not arrested within the next 72 hours, the locals will launch a strike and blockade, he said. The ultimatum was given by the residents of greater Akhalia area including mother Salma Begum at a press conference at Raihan's house on Sunday afternoon.
Former Central Organizing Secretary of Awami League Misbah Uddin Siraj, Local Councilor Makhlishur Rahman Kamran, Ward Councilor Rezaul Hasan Koyes Lodi, Ward Councilor Tarek Uddin Taj, Ward Councilor Iliasur Rahman, Councilor Tawfiq Box Lipon and Women Councilor were present at the press conference.
The mother claims, "My son could not be killed for Tk 10,000, I don't believe it." Surely there is a bigger thing involved.
At the press conference, mother Salma Begum presented 6 demands including judicial inquiry into the incident.
