705 poor families receiving houses in Jhenaidah

A total of 705 landless and homeless families in six upazilas of Jhenaidah are going to receive the houses. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the handing over ceremony through a video conference on Sunday morning as her nationwide programme. 

186 families in Jhenidah are going to receive 186 houses in the second phase of the programme, said deputy commissioner (DC) in Jhenaidah Mozibor Rahman in a press conference at his conference room on Friday morning.

DC said as per the declaration of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, no one will remain homeless in the Mujib Year, the birth centennial of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmam. 407 houses were handed over to the landless and homeless families in the first phase of the programme, while remaining 186 will be handed over on Sunday through the virtual speech of the Prime Minister on Sunday morning. 

Each of the houses are constructed at a cost of Taka 1.90 lakh near the growth centres where education health and employment opportunities will be available. Electricity and water facilities will be also available there, DC said.

Additional deputy commissioner Selim Reza, upazila nirbahia officer (UNO) SM Shahin, nezarat deputy collector (NDC) Erfanul Haque Chowdhury, Jhenaidah press club president M Raihan and general secretary Mahmud Hasan Tipu among others remain present.
