700 farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila had received summer onion and transplanting Aman (T Aman) seeds, fertilizers, cash money as incentives for maintenance of the crops in a simple ceremony at upazila parishad premises on Monday morning.
Organized by upazila agriculture office, upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid Advocate distributed the agriculture inputs as chief guest.
Upazilanirbahi officer (UNO) Sadiya Jarin presided over the event where woman vice chairman Arati Dutt, upazila agriculture officer (UAO) Nur ENabi, upazilaagriculture extension officer (AEO) Junayeed Habib, Krishak League Jhenaidah district unit president Sazedur
Rahman Som attended as special guests.
Each of the farmers received one kilogram of summer onion seeds, two kilograms of fertilizers and hybrid variety of T Aman seeds and other inputs.
Further, they will receive an amount of Taka 2,800 to take care of the crops through their cellphone.
The speakers said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been standing by the farmers and ensuring
provide incentives one after another to produce enough and safer crops for the countrymen, while huge farmers were gunned down by the then BNP government.
Production of summer onion will help meet the demand of the people and reduce the dependency of import spending huge foreign currency.
Additional production of T Aman will also play role in meeting the cereal food demand of the people.
It will also help strengthen the socio-economic state of the farmers, the speakers said.
