Seven students of Narayanganj’s Araihazar Government Model Pilot High School have been expelled for beating up a teacher in Araihazaar, Narayanganj.
This decision came from an emergency meeting of the school on Thursday with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishtiaq Ahmed in the chair.
According to the school sources, a female student of Sultansadi High School was being harassed by a class 10 student of Araihazaar Pilot Model Government High School on her way to and from school for a long time. Locals warned the student several times but he continued to harass the girl with his friends.
In the first week of June, locals detained the student and his friends and handed them over to Sultansadi High School. The assistant teacher of the school Pradeep Biswas warned the student and his friends to concentrate on their studies despite following the girl. Otherwise, he will inform the concerned school to take action against them.
On June 10, the student and his friends suddenly attacked teacher Pradeep Biswas when he came out after the training related work at Araihaza Pilot Model Government High School. His clothes were torn off and he was severely beaten and seriously injured.
The students managed to flee fled the scene when nearby teachers rushed to the spot. Later, Pradip Biswas was rescued and treated at Upazila Health Complex. In this incident, there was a huge reaction in the local teachers' society. Later, UNO assured to take action in this regard.
