A mobile court at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar imposed a fine of Tk 18,000 on seven candidates of ensuing Kulaura Municipal Elections scheduled on January 16, for violating the code of conduct on Thursday night.
Executive Magistrate Md. Ruhul Amin led the mobile court drive with the assistance of Upazila Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Md. Ahsan Iqbal and Kulaura Police Station members in different wards of the municipality. A total of Tk 18,000 fine was collected from seven councillor candidates for using posters larger than the required size during the campaign, putting up posters and stickers on the walls and putting up billboards. It may be mentioned that a total of Tk 95,000 fine has been collected from 23 candidates in the last 3-day during their campaign.
