60th anniv of Yuri Gagarin’s space flight celebrated in Bangladesh

The Russian House in Dhaka celebrated the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Russian Yuri Gagarin was the first person in space on 12 April 1961.

The Russian House opened an online exhibition of famous photographs about Yuri Gagarin, prepared especially for Bangladeshi visitors. 

The Bangladesh Astronomical Association organised a virtual meeting on the first manned flight into space, as well as a discussion on astronomy and astrophysics for Bangladesh youth.

The Soviet Alumni Association of Bangladesh (SAAB) hosted a webinar for members, where they discussed the history of the Russian space program and its impact on global progress in this field.

Students of Daffodil International University gave a virtual presentation of documentaries about Yuri Gagarin and his historic achievement for humanity, as well as an exhibition about the first manned flight into space. The participants were asked to try their hand at the quiz to consolidate their knowledge. The Serov Academy of Fine Arts organised an online space drawing competition and a virtual exhibition on the occasion.

The Russian Compatriots Association «Rodina» has prepared a video programme «Sky. Space. Astronauts. » about the road to the stars, which was paved 60 years ago by the Soviet man Yuri Gagarin.
