60 gold bars seized from Shahajatpur border

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 60 pieces of gold bars from the Shahajatpur border at Chaugachha upazila in Jashore in the early hours on Saturday. 

BGB patrol team seized the gold bars in an abandoned condition. 49 BGB Battalion Commanding officer Lt Col Selim Reza confirmed the matter. He said that a special patrol team of the BGB conducted the operation on the basis of information that a large consignment of gold would be smuggled to India through the Chougachha border. BGB raided the area and seized the gold bars in an abandoned condition.

The value of the gold bars worth Tk 4 crore 96 lakh. The recovered gold bars have been deposited to the treasury branch of Jashore Customs, said Lt Col Selim Reza.
